How did I Conquer? Simple-I showed up.
Step one of my conquer journey was moving from a small Illinois town of 1,000 people to a student at the University of Iowa. From day one I knew Iowa is where I belong. I’m a Corridor Import and have the (almost) unfair advantage as my career is directly related to my passion-educating people on why we are lucky to live here and how to get off your duff and discover it for yourself. Specific to this concept, I’m all about downtown Cedar Rapids.
My official title is the Director of Marketing and Community Outreach for the Cedar Rapids Downtown District. The focus of the organization is simple—promote what we currently have and advocate/take lead in the exciting development ahead. Signs of Progress are everywhere for our downtown community-from over 38 eatery and nightlife to choose from, culture, entertainment, nightlife and the best in event programming, we are all “Bringing Downtown to Life.”-If you haven’t been, you’re missing out. My Conquer triumph goes beyond my first love (downtown)-I currently serve on boards for Horizons, the Iowa Cultural Corridor Alliance and the Cedar Rapids Convention and Visitor’s Bureau. I’ve also been involved in several projects and organizations-the Iowa Women’s Leadership Conference, the National Czech and Slovak Museum, ImpactCR and Leadership for Five Seasons just to name a few.
Showing up and getting involved has given me opportunities I never knew possible. It’s time to share the love and teach others how to Conquer. Hope to see you at one of our presentations!
